Cruising majestically up the Thames on a riverboat at twilight. Indulging in a gastronomic gala dinner at Greenwich’s extraordinary National Maritime Museum.

Sound good? This was just Fizz’s latest ‘super event’; a celebratory finale for 400 of the world’s leading medical specialists who had just attended the week-long IFSO 22nd World Congress in London.

Our events at the National Maritime Museum are always incredibly popular, and IFSO’s event was no different. The venue is stunning, and the history literally seems to breathe out at you from its beautiful walls. Seriously!

This conference gala dinner was held in the Maritime’s magnificent Mezzanine Level which includes the famous ‘Great Map’  just perfect for an international flavour

The Brief

First and foremost the brief was for our guests to have a fantastic evening – ideally with a lot of impact and wow factor. Behind the scenes, this meant:

  • Smooth boat transfer from the Westminster conference venue to the Maritime Museum in  Greenwich during peak hour
  • Fun costumed meet and greets on arrival
  • An inventive and varied menu; also catering to a wide range of dietary requirements
  • Slick and well-priced audio visual for speeches and awards ceremony
  • World-class catering and venue standards while ensuring the delegate ticket price remained at a value for money level.



The Fizz Solution

The Beginning
Guests journeyed in style from the Queen Elizabeth Conference Centre to Greenwich in just 30 minutes via Thames Clipper’s river boats. Relaxing with a glass of bubbly while taking in London’s beautiful riverscape ensured the rigours of London’s rush hour were a world away.

On Arrival
The Fizz Logistics Manager ensured the quick and seamless transfer of 400 guests from the pier to the Museum, via the stunning historic grounds of the Old Royal Naval College. On arrival – wow! The famous pillared entrance was awash in seawater blue lighting, while a balance-defying stilt walker in Union Jack costume enthusiastically greeted every guest. Victorian comedic footmen then took over, escorting groups into the ‘Great Map’ dining area.

Background music played as guests took their places for dinner.

The Food

There was no fixed seating plan, so shared gourmet starter platters were a great (and we were told, fun!) way of presenting a wide variety of choices, and also catering to dietary requirements. We did special requests too!

And the main course? Meat lovers enjoyed a succulent Welsh Cannon of Lamb, while vegetarian guests raved about their char grilled heritage tomato and aubergine stack. All Best of British produce.

Dessert canapes rounded off the meal: a bonanza of traditional English favourites including Eton Mess and Trifle served in shot glasses and bite size chocolate brownies. Guests enjoyed these at their leisure as speeches and awards took place.

Designed exclusively by Fizz, the menu perfectly suited the specific requirements of the event, providing choice and celebrating British food, while also facilitating seamless networking and flow of the event.

Many guests commented on the novelty and choice offered by the shared starter, and the quality of the main course served.  The meet and greet acts amused, and the DJ got everyone on the dance floor, despite the rigours of a week-long conference event!

All were enchanted by the National Maritime Museum and enjoyed the journey on the Thames from Central London offered by the privately chartered riverboats.
